And as Egypt undergoes one of the most dramatic political upheavals in history, a few dedicated MCs from this side of the globe have recorded a dedication track for the people of Egypt, who have been turning their country upside down in an effort to get rid of the current president and the status quo. Freeway has never shied away from working his Muslim faith into his music, but here he takes on world politics, teaming up with HBO Def Poet Amir Sulaiman, Canadian singer Ayah, and two other emcees the Narcicyst and Omar Offendum on a track by Palestinian-American producer Samir Matar). The title “#Jan25″ refers to the start date of the protests, and I’m sure the hashtag reflects the role social networking played in process as well."
