R.I.P. OnSmash

If you went to onsmash.com today, you were likely greeted with this; A message from three different government departments.
Looks like this is the Major Labels answer to the economic music decline. Artists are becoming more independent and it is thanks in large part to blogs and online outsources. The obvious response to that is to take them down.... with the law. While I am a fan and supporter of OnSmash as a website, as a musician myself, I can say I don't blame the labels on this one.
It's simple; artists give a ton of free music to the public via blogs for many obvious reasons and I think its great for music. But we aren't ever satisfied are we? Bloggers have to take it a step further and post leaks, and radio rips and things that were never meant for release and THAT is hurting music.
I could go on for day's about having respect for the artist that provide us with the content and media that make us relevant in the first place but I will leave you with this;
You never have and never will find anything on beallmighty.com that wasn't meant for promotional release and never will, out of respect for the artists, producers and contributors to the music. People who work hard for a culture they believe in.

So on that note, Rest in Peace OnSmash. Watch out 2Dopeboyz, NahRight, etc. and keep supporting the culture.
